About Us

Established in 1962, we are committed to sustainable development and work hard to produce the finest, freshest tomatoes possible.

Key Features

We have 33 acres of modern glasshouses and supply major UK supermarkets and wholesale markets. Our tomato varieties include cherry, plum, large vine and classic round.

Our product

Our grower strives to create the optimum environment for our tomato plants by achieving a balance between vegetative and generative growth. Our aim is to produce a delicious tomato with minimal consumption of energy and maximum reuse of water.

A perfect glasshouse environment requires harmony between climate, energy and water management. Every tomato we produce has to be carefully grown, handpicked and packed.

Experience and Innovation

We are proud of our tomatoes. Each one is carefully grown and harvested to ensure it reaches the customer fine and fresh. Our tomatoes are a result of not only 60 years of growing experience but also our commitment to re-investment to improve growing methods, achieve better efficiency and reduce waste.

Naturally sun ripened

Native bumble bees pollinate our tomato plants and natural predators are introduced regularly to control the pest insects. Each plant is watered and fed through drip irrigation, receiving exactly what it needs.

Our history

The business was founded by Gerrit de Lang who came over to the UK from Holland in 1953 aged 22. In the early 1960’s, after working as a gardener in Somerset he moved to East Yorkshire and married Jennifer. He secured a small plot of land and built 1.5 acres of glasshouses growing his first crops of lettuces, flowers and tomatoes.

After a few years he was joined by his brother ‘Gerard’ and in 1971 they bought 33 acres in the village where we are still growing today. By the mid 1980’s Gerrit’s 3 sons joined the business building it up to 33 acres of modern glasshouses and employing over 100 people.
